What should I do to prevent water sewer backup in my basement.?

My basement flooded with sewage up. A plumber I suggested putting a check valve.Another plumber suggested I put in the overhead system is enormous sewers.An check valve seems expense.The reasonable from a price stand point.What I do?

The check valve is a simple and fairly quick, easy, inexpensive to install. We had whole areas here that a backup of the main sewer, and the check valve decided that until the city to remedy the problem with the sewer system.
