Watch video from a tape AV digital camera on the laptop?

I have to be able to see the video that was recorded on a sony handycam that uses av tapes. I downloaded the drivers to listen to the computer with the USB cable and can capture video, but do not want to capture only vview full screen. I'm assuming it's a program you can download for this, thanks.
