How BowHunter deer in an open plain?
a property and my friends welcomed me to hunt there. the only problem is that I am a BowHunter and plain land is wide with 3-4 foot tall grass, weeds or wheat. Since I am used to just put a treestand deep in the woods, I was wondering how I should hunt this kind of terrain. I only need information about everything such as: Aromas Calls strategy places ETC.
I know exactly how you feel. I found a similar place that the deer were using the fields to travel through a shelter because he was hunting deer with bow and had only learned they were safe if trees. And were outside the fields were crossed by roads and intersections. I had the opportunity to take three deer out of it then went to camo burlap and mounted on fields with deer. I used a folding chair to sit and had 5 of sharp stakes to push into the ground. The burlap was 16 feet long, 4 feet tall. I hid it completely when I sat on the stool. I shot the first deer at 10 yards. And the laminated burlap and had a sling to carry on the shoulder. Not much weight whatsoever. But I hate to hunt on the ground, but I will if I have to. Just play the wind as you would if you were in your tree stand. This system of work and cost almost nothing. The deer had never been hunted in the area and were on red alert since they appear to be in the forest. Good luck!
