Help with this question of travel? (Raise the head, can be confusing)?
Ok, so I'm trying to how long it will take a walk from here to there. Can you help I'll try to find out? Here are more details: Distance: approx 2100 miles Pace: Steady, all normal walking pace on passage: separation of 1 foot plot: Hard and flat in most of the time: Cool at first, then slowly begins to warm as the journey continues Equipment A canoe (for when in water and land to be released w / wheels) and a Backpack Full of food and survival equipment necessary So is my list. Hope who can help me with this question, and if you have no idea of what you think I'm doing or what I'm talking about (or perhaps both), its alright if you do not answer. thanks! : DDD
JayBird Hello, Sounds like the adventure is in your future. I spent the first 10 years of my career leader consolidated liabilities adaptive courses here in the U.S., where walking and canoeing were a normal part of the fare. There are couple of issues …. aa normal walking pace in a rough mountainous country is 1 mile hours on the floor 2 is a better average if you are carrying a burden. If in great shape, that is, an athlete – on the floor with weight on wheels that could get up to 3 miles Average hourly. In the water … if it is a moving river, determine the average flow of the river in feet per second for the season you'll be there – this is available on government resources to read water levels and velocities on a regular basis (try googling searches in the area for the water resources commission or maybe you where in the U.S. USGS.). Once you have fps, convert to miles or kilometers per hour, add about 1 mile per hour if the only boat rowing, paddling, whether with a partner to add 2-3 mph. If a lake, its all the wind, paddling against the wind can be tough – see local climate history to determine the direction wind and average wind speed, so figure less than 1 mile and hour wind, with a wind of the story, up to 4 miles per hour, depending on the speed with which the wind blows. Be careful on the lakes of the waves created by winds and can swamp the cold weather can be life threatening. If paddling upstream, the river may have that " Online boat (pulling a rope while walking upstream in the water or on shore), which is slow and difficult – perhaps 1.4 miles per hour. If in fact can row up to the present perhaps half a mile per hour. Usually people use boat motors for this type of thing that really speeds up, consult the manufacturer of the engine specifications of speed if you choose this route. I would be in a good topographic map, gazetteer or patio for the course of the journey, see what percentage of the time uphill, downhill, downstream, upstream, the lake, etc. Often we think would be flat, it actually has a gradient. Then calculate in detail how long will it take for a conjecture stated in days. Then add one week for the good luck to his travel schedule as they go a long way and "SON" will have the unexpected happens, that is, to fix the tires on the trailer the boat, and deal with other things like blisters on the feet and hands (rowing) equipment failure, boot sole balances, etc – make the water good gloves and shoes to paddle paddle leg of the trip, wear and right foot very, very on the rise, and all ….. Have more fun:) Tom
