Tactical Assault

Tactical Assault
Why did Lee make a frontal assault (Pickett's Charge) in Gettysburg?

Confederate flank attack at Chancellorsville (two months) was fabulously successful. Lee had personally witnessed the disastrous assault on Fredericksburg Yankee seven months earlier. In addition, the tactical advantages of attacks angle defense works were widely accepted in infantry tactics 19th century. Why did Lee not to attack Cemetery Ridge flank (in the bend of the hook) on the cover City of Gettysburg? In addition, the launch of the burden of the city Pickett invalidate the Federal artillery huge advantage.

Sincerely, Lee was not good of a tactical … but was an inspirational leader … While Virginia Lee … I had a problem with listening to his generals who were not of Virginia … Longstreet said Lee should be in the high at the beginning of the battle, before the North did, but Lee did not want to fight at Gettysburg, wanted to push further north … Longstreet told, "… I want to see what these people …" (I think it was strange that he referred to the Union as "those people" instead of …)… enemy to the Union has taken the position of high and Lee had to try to take it, even though it had done the previous day and before the Union was able to strengthen the Army there … For the battle began when in fact parts of the SLA was in town looking for shoes and I found a Union unit Calvary … so after listening to Lee Longstreet (ha of Georgia) gave no advice … and most of its official Virginia Lee did not question anything … so Lee launched his army in a Union force well entrenched and paid for it, and his soldiers paid for it … many of Virginia is not utilized for communicate with him "Granny Lee" because it was sometimes too slow to react or did things that made no sense … my favorite generals Longstreet and Forrest …
