2001 Ford Explorer sport air bag question?

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport 2 door. The air bag light comes on most of the times and stays on, sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it just blinks. It just started to happen within the past 3-4 months. Anyone know about this one? And how do I fix this issue myself if possible. Thanks in advance.

You cannot fix this yourself. Usually it is the result of an Air Bag Sensor failure which is within the steering wheel. You have to take it to a Ford Delaer/or authorized agent of Ford who can reset or replace the Air Bag sensor within the steerring wheel. Sometimes there are recalls which go unnoticed by the dealers that affect their customers because of the millions of vehicles that have been recalled, traded in, resold or otherwise and this may be a case where the manufacturer put out a recall and you may not have been informed. I had this problem too and when I took the Van to the dealer there was a recall issued in which we were unaware and the dealer did it for free. Hope this helps.
