A better understanding of the cellular structure has shed light on the situation. Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying protein in red blood cells, whose central metal atom is iron. The primary, and very simple, the difference between a molecule hemoglobin, a molecule of chlorophyll is chlorophyll central metal atom is, however, magnesium.
