Best Green Products and Green

I found a lot of green and eco-friendly products since I started writing my blog, MissMalaprop.com, in August 2006. I had the opportunity to personally try a number of them, and now there are organic products that I absolutely swear by. Then is a summary of some of my favorites and green ecological products.

Green Daily

The change may come in two big ways and small – one of my first posts was all about taking baby steps to change the world. One of my favorite green blogs, options, Tiny, also believes that small steps can add up to a big difference, like the people behind Ideal Bite, which is a free great resource to learn simple ways to go green. Your daily e-newsletter is full of information and advice – I've learned about lots of environmental problems and solutions from their e-mails!
Choose to reuse! Envirosax reusable shopping bags are my personal favorite for shopping and everyday use. The reduction is another important part of helping the environment. I've written about a lot of ways to reduce and eliminate email trash.

Carbon emissions are a big problem when it comes to the environment. One of the easy things you can do is make sure to stop the car is idling – if it is warm in winter (most modern cars do not have to do this anymore anyway), or holding the A / C in position rest in summer, it's bad for emissions and you're wasting gas and money! I'm also a big supporter of local purchases as much as possible, to reduce food miles and supporting the local economy.

Health & Beauty

Since I read the book Life Verde, I've become more aware of all the harmful chemicals commonly found in the things we use every day, and I find reading labels much more closely. (Check the Green Guide for a list of the top chemicals to avoid.) There are a couple of products I tested to see if it would be better than current alternatives, and now I swear by them.

Going Green Books

Want to learn more about how to go green and make a difference? There are a ton of books on the market at this time on that. I never have time to read them all, and do not expect to do well, but here are some that I have read and really enjoyed it.

Life Green, who I mentioned above, was one of the first books I read about making the switch to a more sustainable lifestyle, and really opened my eyes of all toxins and chemicals that surround us in everyday life. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a better understanding of how environmentalism is not only good, it is also their own personal health and the health of your family.

Green Chic: Saving the Earth in Style is a book pleasant reading for the ladies who want to go green, but do not want to sacrifice style to do so. It is actually very informative, while a quick and easy reading at the same time.

There a lot of books about going green to suit specific events. The Green Bride Guide is a required reading for anyone planning a wedding. (Also check out my post on more href = "http://www.missmalaprop.com/2007/02/eco-friendly-wedding-options/"> friendly options, eco wedding.) The holidays can be another time of year is traditionally time-consuming and consumer-oriented. Green Christmas: How to have a happy, Eco-Friendly Holiday Season is full of tips on how to celebrate the holidays in their own way and keep the impact on the earth to a minimum.

If you are trying for their children to participate in green goes, I recommend the Gaia Girls books. Even in adulthood, I loved reading these, especially the second book, The Way Water. The whole series is not out yet, and I can not wait to read the rest! (These are a kind of eco-aware of Harry Potter.)

Books are full of paper and this means that trees must be cut for production. Try to look for publishers that use recycled paper and green ink in printing. (Most of the books mentioned above do.) You can also find ways to recycle the books, either by using your local library or sites like PaperBackSwap allowing trade and recycle old books you've already read for those who do not have.

I hope this list provides a good starting point and some ideas on easy things you can do to change their habits to the green! I'm always in search of alternative environmentally friendly.
