If you have replacement HID bulbs, how do you know how many watts you need?

basically all work the same if your purchase for plants to get the standard 60 watts, if you have a whole garden in the classroom will to go with a higher watt.or can always put the bulb to the hardware store and I can tell you what watts. that is I get my bulbs in hardware.
