Shop Verizon Wireless retail accept the phones in any condition, any provider of services. The Phones are refurbished or recycled. With the proceeds from the sale of refurbished phones, Verizon cell phones and donates airtime to victims of domestic violence.

Did you know? If you do not want to leave the house, number one hassle free way to recycle your phone is through Charitable Recycling. Print out a prepaid mailing label witty in your PC, stick it in an envelope and drop your old phone in.

Some Goodwills train local workers rehabilitation and equipment manufacturing, and resell the systems and components. Find out what types of electronic equipment can be donated at your local Goodwill.

With Hewlitt Packard Trade-In program, you have the right to use HP products and get cash when you upgrade to new ones. HP makes its home in recycling. Apple offers free collection and recycling of your old computer and monitor, regardless the manufacturer when you buy a new Mac.

Printer cartidges

FedEx Kinko's accepts used inkjet and toner cartridges. Staple inkjet used to accept or laser toner cartridges. Simply return the printer cartridges to a FedEx Kinko's or Staples branch and retail will charge of recycling for you.

Stereo

For a nominal fee, Best Buy will throw away televisions, computer monitors and appliances when new purchases are made or delivered. Best Buy also offers a series of recycling events weekend at its store parking lots in the U.S. Find a recycling event at Best Buy in your area.
Televisions

TVs contain toxic materials that may pollute the environment if broken in a landfill. In 1997, the U.S. EPA said computer monitors and TV screens as hazardous waste and landfills prohibited. Due to its toxic nature is usually a fee to recycle TVs. For a nominal fee, Best Buy is throw away televisions, computer monitors and appliances when new purchases are made or delivered. Furnishings

Freecycle.com is an international basis and movement totally non-profit people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. One person's trash is another person's treasure! Everything posted on Freecycle is free, individuals and groups working for their own systems of barter. Sell it on Craig's List and make arrangements with the buyer to museums and restaurants. EBay Or if the seller option, consider using Mission Fish to support their favorite causes through trading on eBay. A portion of the proceeds go to a nonprofit of their choice, and get a tax deductible receipt!

Access Excess serves both charities and the environment by matching their unwanted household materials with the desire lists of nearby nonprofits that can provide pick-ups or take downs.

Lenses

Leave your old prescription eye glasses, or even non-prescription sunglasses at a LensCrafters Near You. LensCrafter of charity, Give the Gift of Sight provides free eye care and glasses to the most disadvantaged people in North America and developing countries worldwide. Or, send the Lions to the hearing, another organization that eye care and glasses to the needy base.
Suspensions

Order racks wire with the other glass and metal recyclables curbside recycling pickup.

Its local dry cleaners will be happy to accept and reuse your cable age or plastic hangers new customers.
Bulbs

Unfortunately you can order these with other types of glass for recycling. Most States have no special requirements for disposal of fluorescent regular house containing mercury or incandescent light bulbs. To keep light bulbs light out of the landfill, buy a compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb, which lasts many years longer than regular incandescent bulbs. Plastics

The confusion over plastics which may or may not be recycled is confusing consumers. While common knowledge suggests that the "good" plastic (numbers 1, 2, 4 and 5) are easier to recycle, and "bad" (numbers 3, 6 and 7) no, the truth is that different types of plastic require treatment different, and even a small amount of the wrong type of plastic can ruin the new treatment. Some municipalities accept all types of plastic for recycling, while others only accept jugs, or containers and bottles with certain numbers stamped on the bottom. The number system we're familiar with – a single digit ranging from 1-7 and surrounded by a recycling symbol, a triangle of arrows – was designed by the Society of the Plastics Industry in 1988 to allow consumers and the recyclers to differentiate types of plastics while providing a uniform coding system for manufacturers. The number of symbols are at the bottom of containers plastic. Sometimes they are small and have to look far to find them. Scroll through the list to learn more about plastics that can be recycled.
Plastics 1

Polyethylene terephthalate (PETE), commonly found in bottles of soft drinks, water, juice, beer, mouthwash, ketchup, salad dressing, medicine containers, and microwave food trays are well accepted by recycling programs. They can be made in fiberfill for winter coats, bags sleep, life jackets, bean bags, rope, tennis ball felt, combs, cassette tapes, the ship's sails, furniture, and of course, other plastic bottles.
Plastic 2

Plastic High Density Polyethylene (HDPE), commonly found in heavy containers containing detergents and bleaches, well as milk, shampoo and motor oil are easily accepted by recycling programs. They can be made into toys, piping, wood and rope.

Plastic 3

Polyvinyl chloride, commonly found in plastic pipes, shower curtains, medical tubing panels vinyl, and baby bottle nipples, is accepted by some recycling programs in the street due to its low rate of recyclability. Check the Earth 911 website to see if the center municipal recycling accepts the number 3.
Plastics 4

Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), commonly found in plastic packaging films food or dry cleaning and grocery bags or sandwich, is accepted by recycling programs a few sidewalk. Unfortunately, most of the bags plastic end up in the trash. But Whole Foods, Wal-Mart, and Wegman's Food Mart to recycle any plastic bags if they are taken to the store. Check website Earth 911 to see if the municipal recycling center hosts No. 4.
May Plastics

Polypropylene, commonly found in self-sealing containers, as Tupperware, is accepted by few recycling programs in the street due to its very low rate of recyclability. Check the Earth 911 website to see if your municipal recycling center receives the number 5.
Plastic 6

Polystyrene (Styrofoam), are commonly found in coffee cups, cutlery, plates of meat, packing peanuts, and isolation are widely accepted by recycling programs. You can do cassette tapes and insulation. Check the Earth 911 website to see if your municipal recycling center accepts number 6. You can also take styrofoam packing peanuts or that they are clean and in good condition for any UPS Store or Mail Boxes Etc. for recycling.
Plastics 7

Mixed or layered plastic with virtually no recycling potential. These are usually printed a number 7 or nothing at all. Ambitious consumers can feel free to return the goods to manufacturers to avoid contributing to local waste. Check the Earth 911 Web site to see if the municipal recycling center is home to the number 7.

Do adventure tours in Patagonia, REI is worth the money?

I like to go trekking in Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) next year. I've never been to an official travel (except for some trips of several hours or half day), but I like to travel on my own. However, I question the safety embarking on a trip like this alone. I'm in good shape and comfortable, with hiking and camping, but I have no previous experience of packaging. So I'm thinking maybe a guided tour of the idea would be right this time. Has anyone done any of Patagonia adventure tours offered by REI? They are ridiculously expensive, but I know it is a good company and have an excellent reputation. Any comments, suggestions, and in particular the information from someone who has taken one of the excursions is much appreciated! My biggest hang-up is definitely the price. I usually travel on the cheap.

No've heard about the trip to Patagonia in particular, but only've heard comments positive people who have gone on REI Adventures. Working in an REI store, so I hear a lot of travel. I have heard comments from customers of 3, and a companion working. Everyone was happy, they were, and had an amazing time. I would go if I could afford.
