How big dogs have gotten a bad name

Any dog can be considered dangerous. The breed and size of the dog does not really care, all dogs have their own personalities and traits, which, like us, are often subject to the nature / nurture debate. According to the records, however, appear to be some breeds of dogs are more aggressive and attack more often than others. In the United Kingdom, the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (amended 1997) prohibits possessing four types of dogs – the guy is a key factor that defines – which are listed below:

Pit Bull Terrier – They are usually medium-sized and have a solid muscular build and a short coat. They have a broad, flat skull and a wide, deep muzzle. They are powerful and athletic and come in a wide range of colors solid and mixed. The head of this dog is unique and a key element of breed type. It's big and broad but is proportional to the size of your body. Originally bred to fight and harassment, these dogs need consistent training, plenty of exercise and stimulation to prevent destructive and aggressive – one of which has given them a reputation for being dangerous.

Japanese Tosa – These big dogs are athletic and agile. They have a large head with a broad skull and a square muzzle. Originally bred for fighting, have powerful jaws and a strong neck, which has a double chin. Their coats are hard, dense and short. They come in a variety of colors including solid red, yellow or black and also in multi-colored tabby. They are loyal and loving and calm and patient, and can make good family dogs, if the owner is a dominant "pack leader" capable of maintaining this large and powerful animal under control.

Dogo Argentino – These are also called Argentine and mastiffs are very muscular, with strong jaws. They have a smooth coat short, thick, shiny, which is always white. They are large dogs that were originally developed as pack dogs to hunt other animals and can be dominant or aggressive by nature. However, lovers of the breed are described as loyal, intelligent and loving dogs who crave attention through play and structured exercise mass.

Fila Brasileiro – Also called Mastiffs Brazil, are very large, powerful dogs with big bones and loose skin. His coat is smooth and short. It is known to be wary of strangers and may show aggression to other animals. As a pet that will remain fiercely loyal and protective, care and even submissive to their owners and their immediate family.

The restrictions and prohibitions also apply to any mixed race that crosses any of the aforementioned dogs. It is the physical characteristics and behavior the dog and not the actual race name that is important, and that can lead to a misinterpretation of some homeowners. The reason for these four breeds were placed above in the list of dangerous dog is because it was felt that they had been bred specifically for fighting or hunting dogs, and therefore have a certain element of "natural" aggression.

The law regarding these types of dogs is complex and involves a series of amendments including an index of exempted dogs: thus, In fact, owning one of these special types of dog can not be considered illegal, as long as it has been approved and registered by a court of law. What also can be confusing is the inclusion of the crime of any type or breed of dog under the original act which is "dangerously out of control" – pointing to the much-needed attention to the fact that the matter is that the dog is not dangerous, but rather the owner puts the dog in a situation where there is a risk damage. Much emphasis has recently been placed on dog owners to ensure their dogs are handled in a responsible and reasonable in the case. This change has been well received by organizations like the Humane Society who have been known to speak out against certain obsolete provisions of the Dangerous Dogs Act (1991). More important information on dog laws prohibited can be found by visiting target = "_blank" DEFRA> website.

Without however obsolete, despite the recent amendments and inclusions, the act still has incredible influence on our perception of the big dogs in society general. So much so, in fact, that the prohibited breeds mentioned are routinely excluded from a United Kingdom policy pet insurance because of increased risk and who are considered dangerous by those laws. This is the case, notwithstanding any individual court ruling that a registered dog of the above types, does not represent a general threat. It would be fair to suggest, therefore, that unless you have unlimited access to funds would cover the cost of veterinary treatment, or legal, including action against you if your dog were to bite someone, even should consider the possibility of keeping any of these types of dogs registered or not.

Two other breeds of dogs that have often been considered "dangerous" or intimidate are the Rottweiler and German Shepherd. This common misconception is often due more to lack of proper training and respect given to the dogs of this size than any another characteristic of specific race.

Rottweiler – These are large muscular dogs that are used by police forces throughout the world. It is also used as a border guard and guide dogs. The breed originated in Germany as war and herding dogs. They are black with tan clearly defined or mahogany markings. They are a powerful race and can be aggressive if not trained properly. Having said that a "Rotty" – as they are sometimes affectionately called by his owners – can make an excellent family pet, as the natural temperament of this beautiful dog is one of loyalty and serenity, with courage and joy.

German Shepherd – also a big dog that originated in Germany and was bred for herding sheep. They are often used by police and agencies customs. They come in a variety of colors with the most common tan and black and red and black. Again, with proper training, these dogs love and protection Pets can be great. They enjoy the power plays, and his keen intelligence makes them fast learners who respond well to the challenges of training.

The growing problem with dangerous dogs best known advertising seems to be getting worse every year, if the media are to be believed. Research shows reported that the five dogs to bite people are: Pit Bull, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Japanese Akita Huskies. The key point to note here is that dogs large require a huge commitment to training and discipline – not to mention a lot of exercise, love and attention – so that to become the perfect canine companion of your dreams. To blame or punish a dog that has not been properly trained is smacking a child to wet the diaper, which is exactly why Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) has typically been surrounded by much controversy.

If you are ever confronted by a dog believes he could be dangerous for you, There are several things you can do to try to diffuse a potential situation. You should not make sudden movements and stand still with his hands in his pockets. Do not make contact visual and slowly back away, but do not run. It is unwise to turn its back on a dog whose temperament is not secure. This applies to all breeds of dog, not only details above.
