Heat And Ice Packs – Which One And When?
Also known as a hot pad, A heating pad is a pad used for warming of parts of the body in order to manage pain. Many episodes of pain come from muscle exertion or strain, which creates tension in the muscles and soft tissues. This tension can constrict circulation, sending pain signals to the brain. Heat application eases
pain by:
* dilating the blood vessels surrounding the painful area. Increased blood flow provides additional oxygen and nutrients to help heal the damaged muscle tissue.
* stimulating sensation in the skin and therefore decreasing the pain signals being transmitted to the brain.
* increasing the flexibility (and decreasing painful stiffness) of soft tissues surrounding the injured area, including muscles and connective tissue.
The use of heat is often recommended for sore and aching muscles and joint pain. It has its greatest benefit for conditions that are more long standing or chronic such as old sporting injuries and joint pain that tends to occur in cold weather. Some people say that that they can tell when rain is coming as their joints ache. This is probably due to a change in barometric pressure.
In our great grandmothers’ time, a red flannel used to be widely used to “keep the warmth in” and in pharmacies a product called “Wawns Wonder Wool” was sold. This was used to wrap around painful areas. Of course it had to be red otherwise it would not work!
How times have changed. These days we can alternate between a heat pack or an ice pack. An ice pack has different uses to a heat pack. Instead of promoting the supply of blood to the skin and making it red, it does exactly the opposite.
It reduces the blood supply to the surface thus reducing swelling of the tissues. After all, is not blood mainly fluid? Ice packs also have the benefit of reducing pain and promoting healing. They should be kept in the freezer at home so that they can be used at a moment’s notice. Usually 15 minutes application to the affected area (wrapped in a cloth to avoid ice burn) will suffice. This can be repeated at hourly intervals as needed.
In our clinics, we stock both flexible ice packs that do not harden when in the freezer to be wrapped around injured areas and lavender wheat bags that can be microwaved and keep their heat for lengthy periods. As long as patients are educated when best to apply these mediums, they can very helpful in relieving pain and inflammation.

Are the units in the assault on Warhammer 40k package playable units reach black normal?
I was looking to play warhammer 40k and was looking the assault on black reach its set, and it seems you get a ton of how much it cost. I was basically asking if they were normal playable units and if so, Why is it so cheap
Yes, all units blackreach box can be used in the standard game, the only difference is that you build differentley (Marines are 2 parts instead of 11). The reason they are so cheap is because the number of parts, fewer parts are needed, unless you have to pay for GW injection molding used in their manufacture. so do not make the other teams I hear you ask? because they want to provide interchanability mostley and ease of converion (re-sculpt and modification), and they are also much easier to "paint-by-side, if thats how you approach the painting. another reason they do to black dount cheap is not attracting new people to the hobby, if you see the opening game so difficult that it can often buy it.
