Osprey Aether
Finally began to pack. I need a good light or multi-tool knife. Recommendations?
Ok I'm an Eagle Scout. I know about camping and hiking. My father was a scoutmaster. He has retired and now we and some others want to go travel for a week. I have an Osprey Aether 70, very light around 5 lbs. A 30 degree bag that is about 4 pounds, and a 5-pound carp. So far the weight has been key. Now I think a good knife or multi-tool is key to walking. I've looked at Leatherman and Gerber. I want to keep the weight, at most, 6 ounces. Would you recommend a multi-tool or would be easier to bring just a knife? What would you recommend? I would like to keep it under $ 100.
My backpack weighs 14.2 oz goLITE, while I made for my wife of Ray Jardine kit weighs 9 grams. Our 30 degree sleeping blankets weighed 2 pounds, 5.6 ounces and 1 pound, 8 ounces, respectively. My total weight of the package, one is 11.4 pounds. I have Squirt Leatherman tool with pliers to fish weighing 1.9 oz, a Leatherman Micra with scissors that weighs 1.7 ounces and Colombia River KISS knife weighs 2.5 oz I rarely use a knife for anything other than the preparation of food and firewood for the fire. I can use scissors most of the leaves, so I usually take the Micra if I'm alone and I'm not fishing.
