Oak Waterproof

Oak Waterproof
Best waterproofing wood product?

I have a bath mat wooden outdoor shower @ a beach house. Teak appears too expensive for my budget. I'm thinking my next alternative is to use a waterproofing product of large red oak that I have tons of already. If you have tried a lots of decks, I'm hoping you can help me with a product name and an estimated time of use.

Use an oil based sealer, such as Spar varnish. It is designed to support the open for long. It is designed for marine use, so it should work fine. Stay away from Thompson. It's just wax, which does nothing for the wood. Hope this helps.
