Nova Backpack
Nova Backpack
Help, I want to be a backpacking scientist!?!?
I already have bachelors degree in genetics and applied math (probability theory). My grades in cell biology classes are absolutely abysmal, I always barely pass those classes, but my math grades are pretty decent…
But, it has always been my dream to be a backpacking scientist, like those guys on NOVA that go on expeditions to the North Pole, and I don’t know what to apply for in graduate school. With my bio grades, I think I’m permanently banned from doing anything bio related anymore. Does anyone have suggestions on what fields I can go into for graduate school, without having to redo a lot of prerequisites?
(like, I don’t know anything beside basic first year physics, I don’t have the prerequisites for physics graduate school)
Environmental science/engineering or ecology might be a good choice if you want to study environmental issues. Some mathematicians have research interests related to polar ice:

Also, you might look into jobs at Raytheon, which maintains a facility in Anarctica:

Hope that helps.
