National Geographic
Does National Geographic set up the deadly conflicts they film in their nature ‘documentaries’?
National Geographic makes lots of films showing dramatic and deadly conflicts among animals. When I watch these films I often wonder how much of the conflict is set up by the film crew.
For instance do they transport the prey animal into the territory of the predator animal in order to assure good footage.
No, they actually have to search for conflicts or sit and wait for days or hours for one to occur. It would be too risky (if even possible in some circumstances), and would definitely PO the public if NatGeo set up the conflicts happening between animals.
That is the only *bad* thing that I believe there is to being apart of the camera crew for NatGeo. Wild animals don’t know you’re filming them, and aren’t like dogs that respond when you want them to so you have to wait for something worth capturing on film to happen. Though I guess when it does the wait is worth it.
