Best laptop for $ 3000?

I am looking to buy a top line of notebooks in all categories. Preferably something that can be bought as a better place to buy because I'm running out of time. I will start law school in the fall, and these are the requirements of the school: Pentium 4, Core Solo or Core Duo 2 PC Card / Card slots for network cards Busto 1 GB of RAM or more 40 GB or larger hard drive (I'm definitely looking much bigger) 3.5 inch disk drive (optional) (see even make those yet?) CD-ROM or DVD-ROM (I want a DVD recorder, preferably double-layer) Ethernet integrated 802.11b or 802.11g wireless network adapter Windows XP Professional, Vista Ultimate or Vista Business (what one is best?) 56k modem sound card supporting 12-inch realplayer or more of the active matrix or TFT screen Which companies and types are best? More convenient to take to school every day? sustainable? which has the best customer service? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much, Lex

Good for the conditions you could get a laptop for much less. As for websites such as Dell, HP or Toshiba. I wouldnt get anything more. You can get a laptop with more of the conditions for long less than $ 3,000 more around $ 1000. Any processor will work for the school. card slots of your PC, do not even know if they make more one. RAM, 1 GB is about the current standard. Most laptops come with at least a 80 GB hard drive. I just bought this the other day with a 200 GB. I do not see too many with floppy drives. They all come with CD drives and I would say 99% have DVD-RW. Ethernet is standard later. Wireless is also standard. I just got Vista, I feel love. On a new computer with winxp I would be pressing Ctrl + alt + delete all the time. I havent had an accident once in my view. And I am able to run multiple programs at once, and do more things. The modems are also standard along with the sound card. And you do not have difficulty finding one with 12-inch or larger screen. But I advise you that the bigger the screen while the heavier and awarkward. I have a toshiba 19 ", which might also is a desktop computer, it was huge it had to carry in a backpack, and it didn't fit on any desk in the school. But almost better to go shopping and find the most you like. Almost any laptop will not work. But I would let them know you are looking for one for school. You do not want to get a great handheld game powerful bulldozer sounds like down the road. My personal experience. I like toshiba, never really had a problem with them, I have an HP now, and I think its great. I have never delt with Dell, but I hear they are pretty good too. Hope this helps some. I see some people put get an Alienware. Do not get an Alienware. you could to use a portable computer made by someone else was cheaper for that. with Alienware is paying for a name. and a computer in the form of an alien head.
