boot problem?

hello, I recently acquired an old PC. its got a P1 133MHz, 1.5GB, 32MB of RAM hd. I just want to spend time with her and put a distro like puppy linux, linux or even from scratch on it, only one team really care. but for some reason, when I try to boot from a CD, it hangs on "Insert bootable media in the appropriate unit." Ive tried linux age as 8. iso I had laying around, and hung it on all least one, Coyote Linux. I am puzzled why it would allow only one. iso to boot, but not others. ive checked all connections and bridges, etc. .. Not I know, any ideas are welcome some great, thanks. I just read somewhere that was burned in a new custom ios boot cdrw sometimes out of cd drives very old. oh well guess ill just plug the old hd in my pc again and install the operating system on it that way ..
