Holster Coyote
Holster Coyote
illegal for minors to carry firearms on the ranch in California?
I have 15 years and got a job on a ranch. We have to deal with a lot coyotes and mountain lions and stuff and I have been given permission to have a gun on the ranch to protect animals and me. Would it be illegal for me to bear a revolver in a holster only when I'm at the ranch?
The California law is irrelevant in California Penal Code Section 12 101. Linked below for you to examine. Since you are under 16, subsection (a) (2) (B) applies. Need rather than their legal guardian with you, which may or may not be the case, you at work. You may also be accompanied by a responsible adult (21 years) and a letter from the legal representative guardians saying it's okay for you have a gun. Also, if your parents own the ranch and have given written permission to carry the gun then you're in the clear. So, under certain conditions would not be illegal. In fact, it would be pretty easy to get a note from their parents. But carry the weapon on its own without a responsible adult would be illegal, even if you had written the note.
