Used leather gun holster, how to stop the squeek?

I got a $25 Black Leather holster that’s been used. It’s shiny, but it also squeeks. There aren’t any words or markings that indicate the maker. I have no clue what to put on it, plus a small portion of the string that’s threaded through has come out. It’s all in good condition, just the noise and the loosing thread that might get worse in a year, i guess. What should I do? This is my first holster, just a temporary one until I can get to buying a quality lasting one.

You should try to re-thread it. Most Wal-Marts have various sized needles and use a thicker nylon thread (like kite string). As for the squeek, you may want to look in a shoe store/department and find some saddle soap. this helps, but try it on a small part of the holster first (in case of discoloration). This should help the squuek and also protect the leather. Good luck!
