Is Dr. Gregory House from “House MD” the most arrogant narcistic character ever?
I just started watching the show and although I know the TV show applies mostly to women and the medical world: nurses, doctors…basically anybody who goes to the hospital a lot, I began watching because of its tremendous popularity over the years. But, I can’t help thinking how much I hate Dr. House and I really just want to slap his arrogance out of him. Sure, he might be smart and incredibly competent but his behavior goes far beyond anything I’ve ever seen. What do you think?
I think to get the full view of it you need to watch more of the show. When I first started watching way back when, I was kind of like that at first. I couldn’t really wrap my mind around the fact that he was so mean to everyone. But as the show progressed and I got to see more and more of House’s background and why he is the way he is, I started to sympathize with him. As the show goes on we really started to see why exactly Gregory House acts the way he acts. He most certainly has not had the easiest life, but any means. He had an abusive father, who was in the military and would constantly make them move around. He had to live with the fact that his dad isn’t even his biological dad. He had an infarction in his leg, and is in constant pain every day. He’s also had to overcome addiction, as well as many other things. In my opinion, he has a good reason to be as screwed up as he is, and if House was happy, there wouldn’t be a show.
