Why can not the U.S. Gov. issue me a new social security number, if my original # was stolen, after all is your 9-digit #?

Pay four idtheft? What? The governor issued, protect !!!!!!!!!!!!! RIGHT !!!!!!!!$!$!$!$!$!$!$

It is your responsibility to protect social security number. You should never, never give to anyone except the banks, employers, credit seekers and government agencies. Places such as doctors and dentists do not need your social security number. Neither hospitals. People are too willing to give your number out. That's how identity theft occurs. Also, never, never carry your social security card around with you. Keep your home in a safe and secure. Now Having said this, it is possible to obtain a new number. However, it has a lot of work and testing to do.
