gadgets/products to keep warm when camping?
Does anyone know any gadgets/products to keep warm when camping? I am going to a music festival that involves camping up a mountain. It was painfully cold last year and I want to be more prepared this year
Thanks
You went last year so Ill assume that you have a Sleeping Bag and tent. Unless you are loaded then there is no real need to replace them (if you are going to try to get a 3 or 4 season bag with a hood).
These bits of kit will help
Sleeping mat – a foam mat or inflatable mat to go under your sleeping bag, costs from maybe £10 to £60, and reduce hte cold from the ground going up into the sleeping bag. Failing that get a couple of big thick newspapers and put them under your sleeping bag (cheapest)
A hat. Most body heat is lost through the head. Wear it while sleeping and you will stay warmer
Bed socks -try thick walking socks – to sleep in. Make sure they are dry, and also sitting about in the tent
Long sleeved T shirt, pyjamas etc to sleep in (see the theme -wear more in the sleeping bag)
Oh, and make sure when you go to bed you are wearing DRY things and your sleeping bag is dry.
Take a hot Water Bottle to fill
Eat a good dinner and supper (oh, I know this isnt good but alcohol can make you colder)
Do the tent door up fully
During the festival perhaps you dont need so much advice to keep warm -you should be dancing about anyway. If you start to get cold work at warmimngn up again – going to bed cold will make you feel colder.
As for gadgets – there are small gas heaters you can buy mbut these have to be used with the tent open (otherwise CO2 gasses will knock you out), so maybe better to use Hot Water bottle, or boil a pan of water, then close the tent with the water in but the stove off.
