Help identifying a work of art?

I am trying to find the name and artist of a painting I saw in the San Francisco Legion of Honor museum in the summer of 2005. It was an oil on canvas realistic painting that looked like an old European style work. The subject was a fox breaking into a hen house. The perspective is a profile where we can see the fox eyeing a white hen in the corner who is protecting her chicks. Between the hen and the fox stands a noble rooster protecting it’s wife and children. What I found the most inspiring about the painting is that the rooster is still going to fight the fox despite the fact that it will certainly loose. The painting has been in the back of my mind for years and now I have a desperate desire to buy a print of it or at least see it again, but despite multiple google image searches I can not find the name of the painting or artist. My best guess is that it might be called “Fox in the Chicken House.” Can anybody help me?

Being an artist myself, I was intrigued by your story and want to see the painting myself. I tried searching and these were the only paintings I found REMOTELY close to your description:

If these aren’t right (Which they probably aren’t) I would love it if you e-mail me a link to the painting if you ever do find it. I’ll keep searching though till I find it!
GOOD LUCK!

Using Canvas Art To Make Every Room Special

People use all sorts of objects to decorate their walls: old keys, kimonos from Japan, kids’ drawings, even old kayaks and bicycles. But, regardless of how much we like such objects, they are not art and art is what our homes need in order to become more than just a place to put sofas – the place to express our individuality. There is nothing that can show our sense of beauty as good choice in canvas art.

Canvas art is a form of wall art that uses canvas to depict various scenes. They can be original oil paintings, prints on canvas or woven natural materials. We all dream of owning an original oil painting by our favorite artist, but dreaming is not going to bring it any closer unless we win a lottery. One option left to us average homeowners is to buy a copy. It can be a copy of the original oil painting painted by a less known, and as a consequence, less expensive painter. It can be a print on canvas or silk, or it can be a tapestry or woven fabric.

Oil on canvas by a lesser artist
Although this kind of wall art will look like an original art, the talent of the original artist, his spirit captured by the original piece, will be missing. The price, which can be high, would not be justified.

Print on canvas
There are many copies of original art printed on canvas, and the modern technology makes them look remarkably like the original. Some artists themselves produce a series of their paintings in a printed version, often on silk. Such wall art is numbered and can reach high prices. The price would depend on the reputation of the artist and the number of prints produced.
Print of personal photos, or photographs we particularly like, on canvas, are very popular form of canvas art and they can reach high artistic value if we are talented photographers.

Tapestries

This kind of wall art canvas art survived centuries and did not lose its appeal to owners, not only as home decorating wall art, but also as a family heirloom. This kind of canvas art is produced by weaving natural threads, and the modern technology is making it affordable to all of us. The range of styles, colors, themes and sizes is enormous. There is surely something for every taste and every home decorating style.

Canvas art brings to our homes softness and color, but it also shows our artistic sensibility that often lacks in homes without any wall art, or homes decorated with posters and photos only. Tapestries are particularly popular canvas art wall art form for home decorating,  as it combines softness, sense of history and the richness of detail of old art. The most popular tapestries are copies of ancient European tapestries that used to hang in European royal courts and old cathedrals.
