How I can convince my partner to let me have a Pet Dog?

I've been wanting a companion dog for ages. and we have a big house, but belongs to him and his mother. shes allergic and hes not ready. and I'm not willing to wait another two years until it happens.

Maltesse dogs are free of allergy .. well just a suggestion. But you have to weigh in her love for him or a dog?
