Creek Kodiak

Problems with the yamaha kodiak?

the other day i was taking my 2001 yamaha kodiak through the creek whenever the belt started to slip, is this a common problem? if so whats an easy fix or a fix at all?

I have a 2001 Kodiak 400 2wd and had the same problem,…. a little investigation revealed that the front snorkel boot had become dislodged. The Yamaha part is, in a word: inadequate. I went to the local hardware store and purchased a flexible drain coupling 2″ (I think). That is a rubber inner liner with a metal shell with basically hose clamps bradded onto the metal. tear away the shell and just use the hose clamps. The rubber is at least 3/8″ in each direction longer than the stock Yamaha part and thus, will take the vibration and movement very well. I have had this remedy on for three years without a single problem….
