You can certainly wash shoes without much of a problem, don’t dry for too long, but be careful with backpack, the zippers and tags may get caught in the machine. To protect your items and your machine, put both in separate pillow cases and tie them up. That way both your washer is protected and your shoes and backpack get a more gentle cleaning.
