Am I in danger of the mercury in broken spiral light bulb?

I just broke a spiral bulb and vacuumed it up. Put the pieces in a plastic bag outside. Now I see it’s toxic b/c of mercury. Am I, my kids, my dog in danger? I’m pretty worried.

The mercury in your light bulb probably isn’t a big deal. If you want to be safe, open windows in the room where it broke for several hours to air it out. But the small amount shouldn’t hurt you. Just don’t make a habit of breaking them in the house.
