The girls with backpacks in college?
It is rare for a girl to carry backpacks in college? Does that symbolizes geekiness? My university has girls carry bags, purses, wallets … rare case to find backpacks ..
I work at a university in the U.S. and there are many girls who carry backpacks on campus. By no means does it symbolize "geek." It's a healthier way to keep the books. Do you really care if a girl wears a backpack or not? Sorry, but that's a superficial observation to make. However, you are entitled to their stereotypes. Much luck to you.

Peru – Independent travel tips on where to go and visit
Independent travel advice for Peru
If traveling overland from Ecuador in Peru is likely to reach for the first time in a city quite interesting Piura border. From here it is a further 4-6 hours Chicalayo which has an average of a few decent places stay (www.hoteltumbasreales.com test). From here you can go to Huanchaco – a beach side resort where you can see local fishermen bring in the catch of the boats of straw. There are some good restaurants along the promenade and hostels right here. Hunachaco Nearby is the city of Trujillo with interesting architecture and the Chan Chan ruins (very reminiscent of Star Wars).
Lima is the capital and transportation hub for the country so hard to avoid. The capital does not offer much to stay, but if you've been backpacking with little money for some and want some comfort – head to Mina Flores for accommodation Decent restaurants and bars. Most hostels are located in this modern island in the city but are much cheaper prices in the old part of town.
Peru is a great country to explore the Amazon. You can fly directly from Lima to Iquitous in the middle of the Amazon – this forest is only accessible city air or water. He was swamped with taxi drivers offered their recommendations for accommodation and tourism companies to be prepared to defend their personal space, just off of the terminal. Compare and negotiate the choice of the travel company to go with – local guides offer authentic experiences in the isolated villages (often involving all night ferry trips on the Amazon River together with all kinds of animals, livestock, fish and fish products) …. a fantastic experience but be prepared to that rough – no running water or electricity! There are also plenty of luxury options available that can be does not offer the true experience of the Amazon, and treating to meet the locals, but it may be best suited for the delicate (planned to get up close, personal relationship with all things that crawl and creep): Remember to bring tons and tons of insect repellent DEET strong with you – mosquitoes are everywhere, love the blood of a "gringo" and strong enough to bite through clothing … even jeans!
Amazon Highlights include piranha fishing in canoes with their small wooden fishing pole / branch and chain – these boats are very fragile so do not rock the boat! For the more brave to swim in the Amazon is an amazing experience and if you with the locals expect some parties sling mud – if you're lucky you can get up close to the famous pink dolphins, but unlike their saltwater cousins are fairly rare breed timid. Clearly, the Amazon offers many an encounter with wildlife of all shapes and sizes – snakes, spiders, toucans, monkeys are some of the most common. On our trip really a night camped under the stars at the heart of the Amazon jungle, without any protection, but leaves Banana under our Sleeping Bags – with night lights of fireflies that was truly spectacular, but definitely not an experience for the faint of heart!
The Inca Trail is undoubtedly a highlight of any visit to South America and is undoubtedly the jewel in the crown of backpackers visit to Peru. While it is certainly the hard work that it is perfectly possible that any of average fitness and not require special training – just take your time, your pace of life and if you're worried about altitude sickness invest in some pills before leaving Cusco. The trail is very quiet – walkers are limited to only 200 people a day so you can walk for long distances and with other tourists. It's an incredible feeling to walk the path of the Incas, some witnesses of the most incredible views on earth and almost feel alone while doing it. The limitations of access does not mean you need to book their place in the track well in advance however. Tours vary in price from the most basic to carry your own backpack (only for very fit) to the standard staple of hotel porters to Carry All camping, food and personal baggage, all the way to the very luxurious camping and food choices. We take our tour with mid-range option – Gap Adventures, I enjoyed every second and highly recommended. Day 2 is the hardest of the four – the rise of "dead womans pass" – but the views at the top are well worth it and you will feel a great sense of progress once they reach them. The Porters are an integral part of the experience of the Inca Trail, a total of c. 300 of them per day in the top of the 200 walkers .. we had 12 porters for six of us in our group. Each carrier has about 25 kilos on his back and lug it literally vertical slopes and back again … career and in flip flops! It is incredible to see … apparently one of the porters actually managed to complete all the Inca Trail (without any weight on his back though) in 3 hours and 45 minutes … is a path that leads to all the tourists four days! Chargers run ahead of the walkers and then set up camp for lunch, and then go back ahead to set up camp for dinner and tents for the night. When I passed by there were porters as old as 58 in our group and apparently there were 70 years old still working porters of the way! Having a very knowledgeable guide who speaks English well makes a big difference in the experience also so do your research when choosing a travel company. The last part of the tour begins at 4 am in the morning room to make sure that we will reach the Puerta del Sol in time to see the sun and the fog roll off the valley to reveal Machu Picchu.
To the east of Cusco, on the border with Bolivia is Lake Titicaca – the boating lake highest in the world. Take a boat trip on the lake to visit the floating reed islands of Uros incredible. The community here have been making their homes in the reeds of lakes and living in them since pre Inca times. Hiking in the islands, as Bob up and down is a very strange experience, but the canes are very thick layers up to the Islanders simply add a layer whenever you feel concerned about sinking! It is also possible to stay in home stays in some of the islands no cane largest lake – very basic accommodation with no running water or electricity, but a real opportunity to witness the local way of life that has remained unchanged for generations.
