Is the modular sleep system worth the $ $ $?

I live in Iowa and in spring training, summer, autumn and winter, simply to use a cheap Sleeping Bag for the year -40. I am thinking of upgrading to SMS because of its functionality and how it is actually three bags in a well what do you think? Is was worth $ 250, or simply put up with the $ 40 I've had for years?
