Best backpack for hiker/camper/survivalist?

What’s the best backpack for a survivalist? I’ve been hearing an Alice Pack – http://i18.tinypic.com/2vayu76.jpg – is the way to go, but what do you think? I’m looking for something spacious, durable, and comfortable (and hopefully cheap).
