Backpack Back

I went hiking with a backpack, and my back was killing me on the way down. Is there anything I can do?

I am a newbie. I have walked before, but it was my first overnight trip with a backpack, a mountain 4,000 meters, very rocky, lots of stones. It was a challenge but an amazing experience and loved it. My package was only 28 pounds – I was very careful with the weight. I weigh only 110. My pack fits correctly. I took care of that, too. He was very well the rise. But on the way down (when in fact weighted less) my back was killing me – almost all the way, not only at the end. Why? Is there anything on how to carry my weight I could change? Or should I adjust the package differently for the decline? I use the poles. I would appreciate any advice for those with more experience. Interesting … It seems that your package has been a reasonable weight, and was an experienced hiker, and was using trekking poles (which helps a lot). Sounds like you're doing fine and should not have had much problem with back pain. It is also a little strange that he was in the upper back, and it looks like the lower back tends to cause more Backpacker problems (however in my experience). Based on everything I've said, I guess maybe the package was not balanced and well placed, after all. If you has not conducted a complete package before, you may not know exactly what "right" feels like rookies and many have horse pack on his shoulders too when most of the weight should be on the hips. Could it be that there was not much weight put pressure on your shoulders and back or maybe the center of balance was too away in the package, making it lean back and put pressure on his shoulders and back that way. Here are some things I recommend: 1 – Find someone with experience to pack and make the load and adapt it to your package (to explain what / why they are doing). REI stores often have seminars short duration in this type of thing and you can also find help and training through college courses in the community, Sierra Club hikes or school courses field associated with many national parks. 2 – Increase the stomach and back muscles. People do not realize the importance of these are for backpackers. There are many bags that are made specifically for the shape and structure of women and (from what I understand) rather than travel packages designed for men. You sound very small and many standard One Size fits all packets may be too large for your body (regardless of weight). Once again – someone with experience (especially a woman of her own size) could give good advice here. Whatever you do, do not give up. The backpack more you do, the more you'll love. In addition, some of the best backpackers I know are women.
