America Backpack
What is the best size backpack for traveling?

I am a woman goes backpacking around South America, Europe and South Africa since almost 3 months and want advice on what type of backpack to get. What size? I keep reading packages of 70 and 80 liters, but I have no idea how much I really have (for example, in kilos)? Is it better to search for packages with metal frames? What brands are best (and are the cheapest)? And convenient (for example, pockets etc.)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

First let's start with weight. Much depends on what you put in your bag. 70 liters of feathers is obviously lighter than the 70 liters of water (or lead). You might respond "I'm not going to take the feathers," but this is exactly the reason why I carry and recommend feather jackets. They are bulky but very light. Now what really matters is size. If you go to any backpacker destination you will see a few real people with huge backpacks, but if you're in places that young people are just hang outs you will see a lot of more people charged. The best bag depends on what they will do with it too. If you are hiking then metal frames are very good. But most likely they are going to go hiking for aa few days, which means a light pack smaller is better. Oh, please do not buy North Face. I mean, it's just a fashion statement now. Best packages come from places like
