Otiz Iceman was frozen in the Alps 5300 years ago. The well-preserved mummy was discovered in 1991 by hikers in the remote border of the Alps between Austria and Italy. Along with Otiz found a copper ax, a flint point dagger, a bow and arrows, and a bag which, upon inspection, was the Iceman travel kit. Inside the kit had more than a dozen different plants, berries and mushrooms along with birch, known for its antibacterial properties. The active ingredients of birch fungus act as a disinfectant and coagulant to stop bleeding. The fungus also is an edible mushroom when eaten can initiate diarrhea. Mushroom oil is toxic to certain parasitic bacteria. According to the analysis of intestinal contents, the Iceman had whipworm, an intestinal parasite that fought for the consumption of the mushroom that killed the parasite and then purged his tract intestinal. Neolithic people were aware of the healing aspects of certain plants that served as food and medicine.

By exploring the ruins of a city Egyptian a few years ago, I entered a room the guide said it was the home kitchen. I was amazed by the pungent smell of garlic and onions, even after more than 2,000 years. Omega 3 is in the news almost daily. Probably the most important "miracle" by Omega 3 is the reduction of inflammation in the body that may increase the risk of heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, and a myriad of other foods. Eat a handful of nuts a day to relieve the risk and symptoms.
