Why won’t my Alpine Head Unit Power Pack (KTP-445) work?
I bought an Alpine KTP-445 Head Unit Power Pack and hooked it to my Alpine CDE-9852 head unit. The volume is actually way lower now and the sound is distorted. Also there is a very loud sound that reminds me of a heart beat. When the beat occurs the lights dim inside the car. The car is a 99 Ford Contour SVT.
They are compatible.
I discovered the problem is the Ford Premium Sound factory amp. It must be bypassed for the power pack to work correctly.
It’s most likely that the KTP-445 is not compatible with your head unit. It will only work properly with head units manufactured since 2008.
I’d recommend contacting Alpine tech support at 1-800-832-4101 to see if the units are compatible.
